Trump Leads Haley In New Hampshire By 17%

Former President Donald Trump leads former U.N. ambassador and South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley (R) in the New Hampshire primary by 17% in the latest tracking poll by the Boston Globe, NBC0-10 and Suffolk out Friday.

Despite the South Carolina governor’s strength with independent voters in New Hampshire, Trump’s lead with registered Republicans puts him far ahead in the race. The latest figures show Trump at 52%, Haley at 35% and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) at 6% in the New Hampshire primary.

In addition to the latest tracking poll, the previous survey by the same group and one by St. Anselm college — all high quality New Hampshire primary polls — indicate Trump leads Haley by double digit margins and enjoys the support of over 50% of likely GOP primary voters.

The three recent voter surveys show a similar partisan breakdown in the respective support levels for the two Republican candidates. Haley is winning independents in New Hampshire by 10% to 20%. But Trump is winning registered Republicans in the Granite State by some 40% across the three polls.

Haley has an advantage in New Hampshire with independent voters that she did not have in Iowa, where caucus attendees were 82% Republican. Registered Republicans and independent voters are split roughly evenly (50-50) among likely voters, but Trump’s lead among party members is too great not to lead in the primary overall.

When polltakers asked Haley supporters if their vote was a vote for Haley or a vote against Trump, 47% said it was a vote for Haley, and 46% indicated it was a vote against Trump. When they asked Trump supporters, 90% of Trump supporters said their vote was a vote for Trump.

“If you want to defend your honor, and if you want to defeat the radical left Democrats and save America, you must vote for your favorite president of all time, Donald J. Trump,” said the former president at a recent campaign stop in Atkinson, New Hampshire. “As you know, Nikki Haley in particular is counting on the Democrats and liberals to infiltrate the Republican primary.”
