Immigrants Are Flooding New York City Streets

Over 50 New York City Democrats are urging President Joe Biden to declare a state of emergency in response to an unprecedented surge of illegal immigration to the sanctuary city.

The streets of Manhattan are being flooded with migrants, leading to growing concerns among local leadership.

In the past year, over 90,000 border crossers and illegal aliens have made their way to New York City, prompting 54 Democrats to send a letter to President Biden. They are requesting him to declare an emergency and allocate billions in federal funds to assist the city in managing the influx of migrants.

In contrast, instead of implementing severe measures to curb illegal immigration at the southern border, Democrats are urging President Biden to swiftly permit border crossers and illegal aliens to access American job opportunities.

The Democrats’ appeal coincides with actions taken by New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D), who has begun distributing fliers to border crossers and illegal aliens at the border, cautioning them against traveling to the city due to limited housing and resources available.

Toward the end of last week, border crossers and illegal aliens found themselves sleeping on the streets of Manhattan due to a shortage of space in migrant hotels. These hotels were contracted by Mayor Eric Adams’ office to accommodate the new arrivals but have reached their capacity.

Residents in Queens, including Bernard Chow, who is running for the City Council, staged protests last week against Mayor Adams’ proposed plans to establish a tent city at the Creedmoor Psychiatric Center to accommodate 1,000 male migrants.

During the demonstration, one protester voiced concerns, saying, “Follow the money. The mayor has sold us out to the highest bidder. We don’t even know what type of 24-hour security they’ll provide.”

Another commented, “We don’t know who is coming in here.”

In a previous report by Breitbart News, it was mentioned that Mayor Adams began relocating border crossers and illegal aliens to other states and cities, a policy he had criticized Texas Gov. Gregg Abbott (R) for, deeming it “anti-American.”

Since Adams assumed office, the number of border crossers and illegal aliens residing in shelters has surged, leading to an overwhelming 110% increase in the system’s population. To support the subsidized accommodation of new arrivals, Adams has disclosed that public services, including meals for senior citizens and library hours, may be reduced for New Yorkers.

On a daily basis, illegal immigration is creating a financial burden of nearly $8 million on New Yorkers. Mayor Adams anticipates that by the middle of the next year, this cost will escalate to exceed $4.2 billion.
