Democratic leaders of so-called “sanctuary” cities and states are now in the embarrassing position of attempting to turn away illegal migrants they once welcomed with open arms. Now they face rebellion from their voters and seek to send them elsewhere.
In particular to red states.
Illinois Democratic Gov. J.B. Pritzker told CBS News’ “Face the Nation” Sunday that these cities need President Joe Biden’s help. “They can’t all go to Chicago and New York and D.C. — they need to go in places where there’s even more help to offer.

He claimed his state is “welcoming” and has been caring for the waves of illegal migrants. But Pritzker said Democrats told the White House that there are other possible destinations for these illegal migrants where they may receive assistance.
Democrats are loudly complaining that Republican border states are busing thousands of migrants to their “sanctuary” cities.
As a strategy to spotlight the utter failure of the Biden White House’s open border policies, it is difficult to imagine anything more successful than what Texas Gov. Greg Abbott set in motion.
The far-left New York Times editorial board complained on Saturday about Abbott’s shipping illegal migrants northward but then had to pay him a grudging compliment. “As despicable as this ploy was, it worked.”
Of course it did, and now blue states are up in arms over having to share the burden unfairly placed on Texas and others.
The difference being Texas did not foolishly ask to be flooded with illegals by declaring itself a “sanctuary” state.
The New York meltdown is comical. Democratic New York City Mayor Eric Adams harshly criticized the administration for failing to pour billions into the city’s mess. For yet more comic relief, Democratic New York Gov. Kathy Hochul then criticized the city for being unprepared.
Even businesses, including some of the most woke companies in New York, got into the act.
Executives from BlackRock, JPMorgan Chase, Wells Fargo, Goldman Sachs and many more signed a letter to the president and Congress asking for assistance with the illegal migrant crisis. They requested more taxpayer dollars for “educational, housing, security and health services.”
All because of a mess of their own making.
