Trump: ‘Biden’s Gun Control Agenda’ Leads To Weaponized Government

While speaking at the National Rifle Association’s (NRA) convention, former President Donald Trump warned that “Biden’s gun control agenda” will lead to a government weaponized against law-abiding citizens.

“The Biden gun control agenda is part and parcel of the left-wig crusade to weaponize government against law-abiding citizens,” Trump said.

Trump pointed out that while Biden’s gun control policies suppress the ability of law-abiding citizens to use the Second Amendment, criminals are allowed to commit crimes since the policies do not prevent them from doing so.

“[The left is] letting criminals roam free, they’re all over the place. I’ve never seen anything like it. You’re afraid to walk through one of these Democrat cities, you go out for a loaf of bread and you end up getting shot,” Trump observed.

“As president, I will end the weaponization of our government,” he added.

In January 2023, several days after a mass shooting in Monterey Park, California, President Joe Biden called on Congress to pass an “assault weapons” ban.

“I once again urge both chambers of Congress to act quickly and deliver this Assault Weapons Ban to my desk, and take action to keep American communities, schools, workplaces, and homes safe,” Biden said.

The term “assault weapon” is often used by individuals advocating for gun-control laws in the U.S. and refers to a class of firearms with precise characteristics, such as those that look like “military-style” weapons.

“Assault weapons” comprise a wide range of firearms such as automatic rifles, pistols, and shotguns. Democrats have notably called to ban AR-15 rifles, arguing that gun owners don’t need a “weapon of war” to defend themselves.

According to Defense Guardian International, an AR-15 is not a “weapon of war” because it has never been in Military combat.

In 1994, Congress passed an “assault weapons” ban. Former President Bill Clinton signed the bill into law. Biden, a senator at the time, sponsored it.
Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), who introduced the “assault weapons” ban of 1994, said the ban “was effective at reducing crime.”

The 1994 ban slightly decreased crime. However, since its ending in 2004, crime was still steadily dropping.

Considering how broad the term “assault weapons” is, people can infer that Democrats want to eliminate all firearms from Americans.

Confiscating firearms from law-abiding Americans won’t reduce crime. Criminals will continue to commit crimes by illegally obtaining weapons. By nature, criminals do not follow the law. Americans need firearms to protect their families from harm.
