Barkley Calls Trump Supporters ‘Small Group Of Nutty People’

NBA Hall of Famer turned CNN co-host Charles Barkley bashed supporters of former President Donald Trump on his show “King Charles” calling them a “small little group of nutty people.”

Barkley was sharing his concerns regarding a Trump presidency with co-host Gayle King. Chief amongst those concerns is that, if elected, Trump would abuse his presidential powers and be more focused on retribution against the media and his political opponents at the expense of running the country.

“I’m not a big Trump fan. I’m just not. ’Cause like I say, it’s the president of the United States. It ain’t for no small little group of nutty people,” Barkley told King.

King gave Barkley a chance to recant his statement and to say something less offensive about Trump supporters, but Barkley instead doubled down on his comments.

“I only call them that because they are,” Barkley said, reiterating his thought that Trump supporters are nutty. “They’re crazy. They’re like your drunk friend. Like, once your friend’s drunk, there’s nothing you can say to him.”

Barkley was reacting to comments he made at a Fox News Town hall with Sean Hannity. Trump was asked about the possibility that he would seek retribution against his opponents or act as a dictator rather than a president.

“Under no circumstances — you are promising America tonight — you would never abuse power as retribution against anybody?” Hannity asked.

“Except for Day One,” Trump responded.

“Meaning?” Hannity asked.

“I want to close the border and I want to drill, drill, drill…After that I’m not a dictator,” Trump said.

While Barkley bashed Trump and his supporters, he was also not complimentary about President Biden calling him too old to be president.

“I don’t want an 85-year-old driving a car, let alone running the country,” Barkley said, referring to Bidenon.

Barkley is bashing the two candidates who have both all but wrapped up their party’s nomination for president. While he saved his strongest vitriol for Trump, he does not like either candidate. It does seem, however, that like it or not, either Biden or Trump will be the country’s next president.
