Trump Unveils Plan To Protect US Economy From China

Former President Donald Trump, who is currently running for reelection in the 2024 presidential election, has unveiled a campaign video detailing how to prevent Chinese companies from buying up critical components, or what he called “the crown jewels,” of the U.S. economy.

In a video posted to Rumble, a free-speech competitor to YouTube, the former president discussed the many sectors of the American economy that have already been infiltrated by Chinese companies.

“China has been spending trillions of dollars to take over the crown jewels of the United States economy and they are doing that,” Trump said. “China is buying up our technology, they’re buying up food supplies, they’re buying up our farmland, they’re buying up our minerals and natural resources, they’re buying up our ports and shipping terminals.”

He then argued that “corrupt influence peddlers, like the Biden Crime Family,” have helped China “buy up the pillars of the U.S. energy industry because, frankly, Biden and the group don’t care about real energy, they only care about nonsense energy – energy that doesn’t work and it never will.”

Trump went on to emphasize the fact that the U.S. needs “to enact aggressive new restrictions on Chinese ownership of any vital infrastructure in the United States, including energy, technology, telecommunications, farmland, natural resources, medical supplies, and other strategic national assets.”

He also put forth a plan to stop Chinese-owned companies from making purchases of critical infrastructure in the future, and to force companies to divest “any current holdings that put our national security at risk.”

“If we don’t do this, the United States will be owned by China, which would make them very happy,” Trump added. “When I’m president, I will ensure that America’s future remains firmly in American hands, just as I did when I was president before.”

In the past few years, Chinese companies have been purchasing farmland across the U.S. at an alarming rate. One purchase that was especially concerning was land that is located just a few miles from North Dakota’s Grand Forks Air Force Base.

According to Rep. Ralph Norman (R-SC), China currently owns an estimated 192,000 acres of U.S. farmland.

Trump also pointed out that some ports in the U.S. are owned by Chinese companies. “Companies from China own or operate over 93 ports in 53 countries, including in Seattle and Los Angeles,” The Hill reported.

“China does not allow American companies to take over their critical infrastructure, and America should not allow China to take over our critical infrastructure,” Trump noted.
