Ukrainian Refugee Wants To Leave After Two Months In San Francisco

A 13-year-old Ukrainian teen who fled the besieged country last year for San Francisco, California reportedly wants to go home to war-torn Ukraine after experiencing the lawless chaos in America’s public schools.

The girl, Yana, first attended school at San Francisco’s Marina Middle School in January, but rapidly realized that Democrat-run cities such as San Francisco don’t fit the average foreigner’s idea of America.

“I thought it was going to be better because it’s San Francisco,” Yana told the San Francisco Chronicle in a translated interview.

“But after two days, I saw everything going on at the school.”

Yana then described the lawless chaos in the school, saying students regularly cause classroom disturbances and disrespect teachers without facing consequences.

“Nothing happened,” Yana said, describing the aftermath of incidents she considers commonplace in the school.

She has even become a target of bullying and was allegedly threatened by a group of classmates. Despite requesting to leave the school, the district denied her request, and Yana has not returned since, according to the Blaze.

“Yana just wants to go back to her hometown in central Ukraine, back to the only school she knew before the war, even as her mom and aunt have started to research camps and other programs in San Francisco to occupy the summer months,” The Chronicle explains.

Yana’s experience in San Francisco’s public schools is nothing new for the city’s classrooms. A January 2023 report from the San Francisco Examiner described the chaos in a different school with a myriad of unthinkable incidents.

At the Fillmore Street School, some recent incidents include recorded beatings of students and the gruesome assault of a special education student. Somehow, the school has no suspensions on record for the transgressions.

According to the Examiner’s report, there are “five to fifteen students” in the hallways while classes are in session. Those students allegedly threaten other classmates and scream at school employees as they walk by.

A May 2022 fight at another San Francisco middle school sent a 13-year-old boy to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
