The CBP One app, once a central tool for mass migrant entry under President Joe Biden, has been turned into a self-deportation platform under President Donald Trump. The administration has rebranded it as “CBP Home” and is now using it to facilitate voluntary departures for illegal immigrants.
DHS Secretary Kristi Noem unveiled the changes Monday, explaining that illegal migrants can now use the app to report their intention to leave. “The CBP Home app gives aliens the option to leave now and self-deport, so they may still have the opportunity to return legally in the future,” Noem said. “If they don’t, we will find them, we will deport them, and they will never return.”

Trump wasted no time dismantling Biden’s border policies. On his first day back in office, the administration shut down the CBP One entry program, which had allowed migrants to book appointments at ports of entry and gain entry into the U.S. without going through traditional legal processes.

With that system dismantled, the focus has shifted to removals. ICE has significantly ramped up operations, conducting mass arrests and targeting those who had previously ignored deportation orders. Many migrants who were allowed into the U.S. under Biden are now facing imminent removal.

At the same time, illegal border crossings have plummeted, as would-be migrants realize that the open border policies of the previous administration are gone. The Trump administration has launched a major ad campaign across Latin America warning that unauthorized entry will result in immediate deportation.

Additionally, deportation flights have increased, and the military is playing a larger role in expediting removals. Detention facilities, including Guantanamo Bay, are being used to process individuals before they are deported. Trump’s policies are sending a clear message — illegal immigration will not be tolerated, and those who are in the U.S. unlawfully are being removed at record speed.
