Texas Tech’s Reese Burkhardt Draws Attention With ‘Trump 2024’ Message After Touchdown

Texas Tech kicker Reese Burkhardt drew national attention Saturday after revealing a “Trump 2024” T-shirt during a college football game against TCU. Following a trick play touchdown, Burkhardt celebrated by lifting his jersey to reveal his support for President Donald Trump, creating a viral moment that quickly spread across social media.

The unusual play happened as Texas Tech faced 4th & Goal in the second quarter. Instead of a field goal attempt, Burkhardt caught the ball and ran it in for a touchdown, then displayed the political message on his shirt. Trump’s campaign team soon promoted the video, amplifying its reach.

NFL veteran Antonio Brown, an outspoken Trump supporter, added to the buzz, inviting Burkhardt to message him about a potential NIL deal and recognizing him as “#CTESPN’s Cracker of the Day.” Brown’s endorsement highlighted the growing attention around Burkhardt’s actions.

The reaction among fans was mixed. While Trump supporters celebrated, others criticized Burkhardt for bringing politics into a college game. “I wish sports could just be about sports,” one fan wrote in disappointment. Nevertheless, some fans from other schools voiced newfound support for Texas Tech due to Burkhardt’s gesture.

Although Texas Tech narrowly lost to TCU 35-34, Burkhardt’s display ensured the game would be remembered for more than just the score, as the country prepares for Election Day.
