Texas Lawyer Claims Roc Nation Impersonated Officials To Derail Lawsuits

Attorney Tony Buzbee has filed a lawsuit against Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, accusing the company and two of its lawyers of impersonating Texas officials to interfere with his law firm’s cases. The allegations include claims that Roc Nation violated state laws and engaged in barratry to disrupt ongoing litigation.

The lawsuit names Roc Nation lawyers Marcy Croft and Quinn Emanuel, accusing them of organizing a plan to persuade Buzbee’s clients to sue his firm. Court documents allege that Roc Nation agents contacted over two dozen current and former clients, pretending to work for the state and offering financial incentives.

Buzbee claims the agents used fake badges and, in one case, offered a client $10,000 to file a lawsuit. He also alleged that Croft was recorded describing the scheme in detail. “This conduct was specifically targeted at our firm,” Buzbee said in a statement.

Roc Nation dismissed the allegations, calling the lawsuit a desperate attempt to distract from unrelated issues. Croft also denied the claims, describing them as fabricated and lacking evidence.

The case is tied to ongoing legal battles involving Sean “Diddy” Combs and Jay-Z, both accused of serious crimes, including sexual assault. Both men have denied the allegations.
Combs’ pretrial conference is set for today in New York, as Buzbee’s lawsuit continues to unfold in Texas courts.
