Stranded NASA Astronauts Thank Trump For Stepping Up After Biden’s Inaction

Astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams made their first public remarks since returning from a tense and prolonged mission aboard the International Space Station, and their gratitude was directed toward President Donald Trump and Elon Musk — not the White House.

Appearing on Fox News, Wilmore expressed his appreciation for leaders who engaged directly with the mission. “I respect you. I trust you,” he said of Trump and Musk, noting that both had shown strong interest in the success of American space operations.

Williams echoed that sentiment. She emphasized the importance of national leadership that “takes notice” and supports the people doing the hard work in space. Without saying President Biden’s name, her remarks drew attention to the lack of involvement from the administration.

Wilmore’s comments came after spending 286 days in space. He noted how vital it was that national leaders stepped in and paid attention, describing their involvement as not only refreshing but also empowering for the country.

Williams pointed to the fact that their ordeal finally forced attention on the International Space Station. “It sets an example,” she said, mentioning how it matters to be able to launch and operate in space — and to “bring us back.”

The phrase stuck out to many, especially since Elon Musk had offered to bring the astronauts home while the Biden administration appeared to stall. The rescue was ultimately completed on March 18, long after private options had already been floated.

Both astronauts declined to assign blame to any one party but admitted there were failures across agencies. Wilmore said everyone shared responsibility — including himself. Still, their message was clear: action, not talk, makes the difference.
