An altercation at a Juneteenth festival in Round Rock, Texas, resulted in a tragic shooting on Saturday night, leaving two people dead and four others injured. The incident took place at approximately 10:50 PM near the vendor section of Old Settlers Park. Round Rock Police reported that the victims, which included two children and four adults, were innocent bystanders and not part of the initial conflict.
Police Chief Allen Banks held a press briefing on Sunday, stating that the suspects fled the scene and have not yet been apprehended. He called on the public for assistance in identifying the perpetrators. “It is unfortunate that we were here celebrating a wonderful event and we have a tragedy that happens,” Banks remarked. “My thoughts and my prayers go out to the victims. My condolences go out to the families of the deceased.”
The conditions of the injured victims, who were taken to local hospitals, have not been disclosed.
Round Rock Mayor Craig Morgan released a statement expressing his sorrow and solidarity with the victims’ families. “I know Round Rock residents are devastated as they woke up to the terrible news of last night’s tragic events. To the families who are mourning the loss of loved ones, please know that our entire community mourns with you. To those who were injured, we are here to support you in your recovery,” Morgan stated.
