Nicole Shanahan, the former running mate of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., has publicly condemned what she describes as the “abuse” of the justice system for political purposes, particularly in the case of former President Donald Trump. Her comments follow the announcement of a new grand jury indictment against Trump, which she believes is driven by nefarious political motives.
In a social media post, Shanahan admitted that she once dismissed claims of Trump being persecuted. However, after undergoing her first cross-examination in a New York Ballot Access case, she acknowledged that the justice system is being “co-opted and abused” by individuals with “malevolent political agendas.” Her experience, she said, has given her a new perspective on the political dynamics at play.
Shanahan’s remarks come in the wake of her and Kennedy’s decision to withdraw from the presidential race, a move she attributes to the relentless sabotage by the Democratic Party. She accused the DNC-aligned Clear Choice PAC of deliberately undermining their campaign, spending millions to turn it into a “spoiler” effort. The campaign faced numerous obstacles, including shadowbanning, legal challenges in multiple states, and internal sabotage.
Shanahan’s strong statements reflect a broader concern about the integrity of the justice system in politically sensitive cases. As she now views Trump as a victim of political persecution, her comments contribute to the ongoing debate over the fairness of legal actions against prominent political figures.
