Republicans Warn Losing Wisconsin Court Could Cost House Seats

Top Republican leaders are sounding the alarm over Wisconsin’s Supreme Court race, saying a loss in April could do more than just tilt the court to the left — it could hand Democrats a chance to redraw congressional maps and shift the balance in the U.S. House.

President Donald Trump endorsed conservative candidate Brad Schimel in a Truth Social post, calling the election “very important” and urging his base to vote early. He said Schimel’s opponent, Susan Crawford, would advance a radical agenda from the bench if she wins.

Schimel, a former attorney general and current Waukesha County judge, said Wisconsin voters must act now to protect their state’s future. He said Trump’s backing highlights just how serious the stakes have become.

GOP Chairman Brian Schimming said Democrats have been caught openly discussing their desire to use this election to help win two congressional seats by 2026. He cited an email sent by party officials and donors that described the court race as a path to shift power in Washington.

The contest has become the most expensive court race in U.S. history, with tens of millions in outside money flooding the state. Groups linked to Elon Musk and George Soros are on opposite sides of the fight.

With early voting underway, Trump’s allies are working to turn out the same base that helped him win Wisconsin in 2024. Trump Jr. appeared with conservative youth leader Charlie Kirk at a rally, where he called the court race a key battleground in the larger political war.

Wisconsin’s Supreme Court has already reversed a number of conservative victories in the last year. A win for Schimel would give Republicans a chance to regain control and block future liberal rulings.

Schimel told voters that flipping the court could help stop left-wing legal challenges aimed at dismantling Trump’s accomplishments. He also warned that sitting out this race could allow Democrats to control the court for years.
