Planned Parenthood’s Influence On Schools Called Inappropriate And Dangerous

Planned Parenthood’s decision to back candidates in Pennsylvania school board elections is drawing backlash from parents and conservative groups. Critics argue that the nonprofit, supported by federal subsidies, is using its resources to push controversial agendas into classrooms.

The organization’s focus on explicit sexual education and gender ideology is seen as an attempt to bypass parental involvement. Planned Parenthood also offers medical interventions for minors, including hormones, raising concerns about the role of federally funded groups in such decisions.

Gov. Josh Shapiro has strengthened ties with Planned Parenthood during his tenure. Shapiro met with the group’s leaders to discuss abortion expansion shortly after taking office. Lindsey Mauldin, Shapiro’s deputy chief of staff, is a former Planned Parenthood employee, underscoring the organization’s influence in state government.

Tina Descovich, co-founder of Moms for Liberty, criticized Planned Parenthood’s involvement in local elections. “This is not only inappropriate but a misuse of federal funding,” she said. “Parents will not tolerate this intrusion into their children’s education.”

Planned Parenthood Southeastern Pennsylvania has highlighted its teacher training programs, which cover gender identity and other divisive topics. These workshops have drawn criticism for promoting ideologies many families reject, undercutting parental authority.

The involvement of federally funded organizations like Planned Parenthood in local school board elections is raising alarm about the balance of power between advocacy groups, parents, and public education systems.
