It is outrageous that an unsubstantiated, years-old sexual misconduct allegation is being revived to attack Pete Hegseth, President Donald Trump’s nominee for Secretary of Defense. The claim, originating from 2017, has already been investigated by the Monterey Police Department, which found no evidence to support it. Despite this, the media, including Vanity Fair and The Washington Post, have picked up the allegation and used it as a weapon against Hegseth and his nomination.
The timing of these leaks is deeply troubling, especially when one considers that the issue was already thoroughly investigated and dismissed. The Monterey Police found no merit in the claim, and yet, it continues to resurface, now with the goal of derailing Hegseth’s confirmation.
STOP THE BACKSTABBING 🐍 The letter sent to try to get Hegseth out was leaked by someone trying to destroy Trump's cabinet picks. "It doesn't matter that the letter was sent, it matters that it was sent to the transition team and not the media." @JFRadioShow pic.twitter.com/89TxirVLq3

Hegseth has repeatedly maintained his innocence, describing the encounter as consensual, and his lawyer, Timothy Parlatore, confirmed that the allegation had been fully reviewed and found to be baseless.
Despite this, the media outlets continue to amplify the claim, portraying it as a serious issue that could jeopardize Hegseth’s appointment. Vanity Fair and The Washington Post have both reported the allegation without providing the critical context that it was investigated and found to lack any supporting evidence. This is not journalism; it’s an attempt to use a non-issue to harm a key figure in the incoming administration.
What is even more outrageous is that these leaks appear to be part of a broader campaign to undermine Trump’s choice for Defense Secretary. Someone within the Trump transition team, it seems, is determined to damage Hegseth’s reputation with an allegation that has already been proven to have no substance. The media’s role in inflating this baseless claim is equally troubling. By continuing to spread a false narrative about Hegseth, they are helping to manufacture a crisis where none exists.
What a shock 🫤
…Dems leak ANOTHER "sexual something or other" story to try to discredit a great Republican appointee.
I'm so over this – I still like Hegseth…this changes nothing.

In reality, the focus should be on the qualifications of the nominee — Hegseth’s background as a veteran and his strong commitment to national defense. Instead, these distractions are making it more difficult for the Trump administration to move forward with its plans for leadership.
This is a clear example of how unfounded allegations can be weaponized by the media and certain individuals within political circles to block nominees and stir division. It is deeply unfair to target Hegseth over an issue that has already been resolved and dismissed. It is time to stop allowing these baseless attacks to stand in the way of a well-qualified nominee who has the best interests of the country at heart.
