Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed on Monday that DHS has identified some of the leakers and warned that they will be fired and prosecuted.
Speaking on Fox News, Noem emphasized the dangers of these leaks, which she said put law enforcement officers at risk and allowed criminals to evade capture. The leaked memo, published earlier this month, revealed ICE’s plans for a large-scale operation targeting criminal illegal immigrants, leading to protests in sanctuary cities.

Noem explained that DHS has been conducting a thorough investigation, using polygraph tests and reviewing internal communications to identify those responsible. “We have used every tactic that we have,” she said. “These bureaucrats who have an agenda to stop the work we’re doing to bring safety to America will sell each other down the river just to protect themselves.”

The Biden-Harris administration had previously restricted ICE’s ability to arrest and deport illegal immigrants, but under President Donald Trump, those policies have been reversed. However, opposition from sanctuary cities remains a challenge, with local officials resisting federal enforcement efforts.
Noem assured that those responsible for the leaks would face consequences, stating, “When they are breaking the law, we are prosecuting and holding them accountable to it.” She reaffirmed her commitment to law enforcement, pledging that DHS would support officers in the field and go after those who endanger them.
DHS has yet to release further details on the identities of the individuals involved or which agencies they belong to. Investigations are still ongoing.
