With time running out for President Joe Biden’s term, left-wing filmmaker Michael Moore is urging him to take extreme and decisive action during his remaining days in office. In a post on Substack, Moore argued that Biden should use his final 100 days to accomplish a series of significant policy goals, claiming that the president has “full immunity” to do what he wants before his term ends.
Moore suggested that Biden should view this period as an opportunity to check off major progressive goals from a “bucket list,” including declaring the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) as the 28th Amendment to the Constitution and canceling both student and medical debt. Moore also recommended that Biden close the Guantanamo Bay detention center and return the land to Cuba.
He also encouraged Biden to use his foreign policy experience to negotiate peace between Russia and Ukraine and to withdraw U.S. support for Israel in its conflict with Hamas. Moore’s list of suggestions continued with a call to empty the Federal Death Row by commuting sentences to life without parole, as well as granting clemency to non-violent drug offenders.
Moore also called on Biden to pardon Edward Snowden, arguing that the whistleblower should be given a medal instead of facing imprisonment. In a more lighthearted suggestion, Moore asked Biden to ban spam text messages, humorously suggesting that doing so would secure his place on Mount Rushmore.
As Biden’s time in the White House winds down, Moore’s plea reflects a push from the left for the president to use his remaining time to take bold, progressive actions and leave a lasting legacy.
