In a powerful warning to the UK and the European Union, former British Prime Minister Liz Truss has urged Western nations to abandon their current economic strategies or face disaster. Speaking with Fox Business, Truss criticized the high taxes, green energy policies, and excessive reliance on China that are leading Europe and the UK toward economic stagnation. She pointed to former President Donald Trump’s policies as a model for reversing these trends.
Truss warned that the UK and Europe are experiencing the highest energy prices and tax rates in decades, but despite the increasing taxes, government revenues are not keeping pace. “The economies are stagnating,” she said, suggesting that without major changes, a financial crisis is imminent.

Drawing on Trump’s achievements, Truss highlighted how deregulation and energy policies such as fracking have helped lower energy costs and stimulated economic growth. She also praised Trump for taking a firm stance against China, strengthening America’s position globally. “President Trump is showing the way,” she said, urging Europe and the UK to adopt similar policies to avoid further economic decline.
Truss further predicted that if Trump wins a second term, the U.S. economy will “turbo charge,” and Europe will be forced to reconsider its failed policies. She pointed out that the people of Europe and the UK, as evidenced by the Brexit referendum, have long been pushing for change but are held back by powerful political elites who thwart their desires.
.@realDonaldTrump's victory wasn't just a win for the people over the elite.
It was a win for the US economic model over European stagnation.

Reflecting on her own experiences as Prime Minister, Truss suggested that her economic reforms were undermined by Britain’s bureaucratic and financial elites. She argued that the resistance to her tax cuts and pro-growth agenda ultimately led to her ousting, with Rishi Sunak replacing her as Prime Minister. Truss called for similar efforts in the UK and the U.S. to dismantle entrenched bureaucratic power.
While acknowledging Europe’s slow progress, Truss expressed optimism, pointing to the success of Javier Milei’s radical reforms in Argentina as proof that significant economic changes are possible even in dire situations.
