Vice President Kamala Harris is facing harsh criticism from California law enforcement officials over a recent campaign ad. Tulare County Sheriff Mike Boudreaux and District Attorney Tim Ward say the ad misleadingly uses their images and exaggerates Harris’s record on border security.
The ad claims Harris “took on drug cartels and jailed gang members for smuggling weapons and drugs across the border” as a “border state prosecutor.” However, Boudreaux argues this is far from the truth.
“The truth is, Harris never cared about the cartels and did nothing to stop people from illegally crossing the border,” Boudreaux stated. He recounted a 2014 visit where Harris allegedly took credit for local law enforcement’s work without even greeting the officers involved.
Ward echoed these sentiments, calling Harris’s ad “disingenuous” and criticizing her record as California’s Attorney General. Both officials expressed anger at their images being used without permission, implying support they do not give.
Boudreaux’s political action committee accused Harris of undermining efforts to stop cross-border crime during her time as Attorney General. They called her attempt to paint herself as tough on the border “pathetic.”
The sheriff made his position clear, stating that for those looking for support of criminal justice and law enforcement, “that is best represented by Donald Trump, not Kamala Harris.”
