Greene Criticizes Secret Service After Assassination Attempt On Trump

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has urged Congress to use its budgetary authority to hold the Secret Service accountable for its recent security failures. Her call to action follows the July 13 assassination attempt on President Donald Trump at a rally in Butler County, Pennsylvania, which resulted in two injuries and one fatality.

On the “Just the News, No Noise” TV show, Greene stressed the importance of financial oversight to ensure the Secret Service addresses its security flaws. “We have the power of the purse, and we can hold [the] Secret Service accountable with funding,” she asserted.

Despite recent House hearings aimed at investigating the security breakdowns, little substantial information has been uncovered. Former Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle resigned shortly after testifying before the House Oversight Committee, adding to the complexity of the situation.

One significant concern was the lack of a Secret Service agent on the building used by the shooter due to its sloped roof. Additionally, there were communication issues between local police and the Secret Service, raising questions about their coordination and preparedness.

Greene suggested that these failures might indicate more than just a random act of violence. “All of these things are evidential proof that there was something more than just a deranged gunman set on killing President Trump,” she noted.

She is calling for the establishment of a task force with subpoena power to thoroughly investigate the incident and uncover all details related to the security lapses.

As Congress deliberates on the next steps, Greene’s demand for accountability underscores the urgent need for the Secret Service to improve its security protocols and ensure the safety of high-profile individuals in the future.
