Rep. Greg Steube (R-FL) has been hospitalized after suffering multiple injuries from falling off of the roof of his home.
The Republican congressman was reportedly rushed to the emergency room at a local hospital in Sarasota, Florida, on Wednesday afternoon.
In a statement on Twitter, Steube’s team noted that he had been “involved in an accident on his property” and had “sustained several injuries.”
His team also requested that Americans pray for Steube and his family as he heals from his injuries.
Congressman Steube was involved in an accident on his property late this afternoon and has sustained several injuries. We will provide additional updates when possible. Please pray for the Congressman and his family.

The incident was first reported on by Florida Politics journalist Peter Schorsch — who tweeted that a part-time aide for “Steube’s congressional neighbor,” Rep. Vern Buchanan (R-FL), had “discovered Steube in this situation.” The aide reportedly has a second job as an Amazon delivery driver, which was how he ended up finding the congressman.
Now being told that it was a part-time aide for @VernBuchanan, Steube’s congressional neighbor, who moonlights as an Amazon delivery driver who discovered Steube in this situation. https://t.co/7BaYEsPPLx

Steube, 44, represents Florida’s 17th congressional district — which is made up of the outer suburbs of Sarasota and Fort Myers through the Everglades. The Republican lawmaker has been in office since 2019 and previously served for three terms in the Florida House of Representatives and two years in the Florida state Senate until 2018.
It is unclear what condition Steube is in at the moment.
One of his colleagues, Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) offered his prayers to Steube and his family in a tweet.
“Please join Ann and me in wishing Greg a speedy recovery. We’re keeping him and the Steube family in our prayers,” Scott wrote.
Before entering politics, Steube served in the military as an Airborne Infantry officer and a JAG Corps Officer from 2004 to 2008. He also served with the 25th Infantry Division as the Chief of Detainee Operations for Multinational Division North in Iraq from 2006 to 2007.
Steube was recently appointed to the House Ways and Means Committee in the 118th Congress, which he says “will play an integral role in oversight of the weaponized IRS, investigating the Biden family, examining the unprecedented release of President Trump’s tax returns, and restoring American competitiveness.”
In our new Republican majority, the Ways and Means Committee will play an integral role in oversight of the weaponized IRS, investigating the Biden family, examining the unprecedented release of President Trump's tax returns, and restoring American competitiveness.
