Florida Mother Blames Wi-Fi Router For Fire That Destroyed Her Home

A Florida woman is warning homeowners after a fire, allegedly caused by an overheating Wi-Fi router, destroyed her rental property and left her family with nothing. Keona Huntley, a mother of three, shared the devastating aftermath on social media to alert others about potential fire hazards from household electronics.

Huntley stated that the fire began in her bedroom, where the Quantum Fiber router was located. She had been dealing with persistent issues with the device, leading to multiple technician visits over several months. Two months before the incident, the router was replaced, but service issues continued.

The fire spread quickly, leaving the home uninhabitable. Huntley shared footage showing charred walls, debris-covered floors, and a mattress reduced to springs. “We literally lost everything today,” she said in a TikTok video, adding that her children now have nothing to return to.

To make matters worse, Huntley admitted she did not have renters insurance. “That was on me,” she said, expressing deep regret. She urged others to learn from her experience and take precautions to protect their homes and belongings.

Commenters advised Huntley to preserve the router as evidence and consult a lawyer to investigate whether a defect caused the fire. “Make sure the company doesn’t touch it before investigators do,” one user wrote, while others encouraged her to pursue legal action.

Huntley’s family has started a GoFundMe campaign to cover temporary housing and replace essential items. So far, they’ve raised just over $3,000 of their $8,000 goal. Fire investigators are still determining the exact cause of the blaze.
