Federal Probe Links Arcadia Councilwoman’s Fiance To CCP Activities

Federal prosecutors allege that Mike Sun, fiance of Arcadia City Council member Eileen Wang, acted as an agent for the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Sun, also known as Sun Yaoning, is accused of collaborating with convicted CCP operative Chen Jun to influence U.S. politics.

Wang, elected to the council in 2022, is reportedly referred to as “Individual 1” in court records. Prosecutors claim Sun managed her campaign, describing it as a strategic win for improving U.S.-China relations. He was arrested on Dec. 19 for alleged illegal activities.

Wang and Sun share business ties, including co-founding the American Southwest Chamber of Commerce and managing U.S. News Center, a Chinese-language publication. The outlet has frequently highlighted Wang’s political accomplishments.

Campaign filings show Wang reimbursed Sun for expenses during her election run. Despite these connections, Arcadia officials maintain that Sun had no role in local governance.

Court documents connect Wang’s home address to Sun’s last known residence. Though not charged, Wang has engaged with federal authorities and expressed willingness to assist in the ongoing investigation.

The case underscores growing concerns over CCP-linked operations targeting U.S. political systems at multiple levels.
