Antifa’s Election Night Protest Blocked by Seattle Police, Several Arrested

Seattle police shut down an Election Night Antifa protest that took place near the former CHAZ area in Capitol Hill. The police made several arrests as they prevented the demonstration from escalating into a riot, a situation similar to the chaos seen in 2020.

The protest began around 6 p.m. at Cal Anderson Park, where Antifa members had gathered, wearing black bloc attire and riot gear. According to police, the group vandalized the park with spray paint, displaying pro-Palestinian messages and anarchist symbols. Antifa fliers had encouraged residents to “show displeasure in the streets” on Election Day, targeting both presidential candidates.

Seattle police monitored the demonstration closely, with officers on bikes and in vehicles following the protesters’ movements. Police used loudspeakers to warn the group to remain peaceful. When protesters began blocking roads, officers moved in to make targeted arrests.

In total, five individuals were arrested on charges including property damage and resisting police orders. Tensions rose as some protesters shouted threats toward officers, but police maintained control and prevented further escalation.

As the group’s numbers dwindled, the remaining protesters regrouped at Cal Anderson Park, choosing to disperse around 7:30 p.m. Seattle police maintained a presence in the area to prevent any further unlawful actions, successfully restoring order by the end of the night.
