After the all-Muslim city council in Hamtramck, Michigan, voted to ban “Pride flags” from being flown on public property, two human relations (HR) commissioners have been fired for violating the ban.
In June, the Hamtramck City Council voted unanimously to ban the LGBT flag from being flown on public property within the city. However, the resolution was not actually focused on the LGBT flag — as it applies to all flags promoting any religious, ethnic, racial, political or orientation-based group, and is intended to prevent “discrimination” or “favoritism.” The resolution would only allow the American flag, the state flag and city flags to be flown within Hamtramck, as well as the Prisoner of War flag.
Nonetheless, the left was furious over the decision.
Less than a month after the ban was enacted, two members of the Hamtramck Human Relations Commission — Russ Gorgon and Cathy Stackpoole — were removed from their positions for flying the “Pride flag” over a public sidewalk for several hours.
The Detroit News reported: “Two members of a Hamtramck human rights commission were removed Tuesday from the panel after they raised an LGBTQ+ flag during a rally Sunday in violation of a city flag resolution. The city confirmed police were investigating the protest Sunday, where Russ Gordon, chair of the Human Relations Commission, and Catrina Stackpoole, a member, raised the pride flag on a city flagpole along Jos. Campau near Neibel Street.”
Stackpoole noted that the LGBT flag had been taken down roughly two hours later by an unidentified individual.
In a unanimous vote on Tuesday, the Hamtramck City Council voted to remove both Gordon and Stackpoole from their positions — with City Manager Max Garbarino later confirming that their firing had stemmed from their violation of the flag resolution.
“The council passed a resolution on Tuesday night removing them for violating the previous flag resolution. The police department is investigating if any criminal laws were actually broken,” he told The Detroit News.
This news comes amid a nationwide battle between left-wing ideologues in government and parents concerned about the push for radical gender ideology to be taught in schools. The battle has begun to include immigrants from more conservative cultures in recent years — with Muslims in Dearborn, Michigan, protesting against explicit books being read to children, and Armenian immigrants clashing with leftist activists in Glendale, California over inappropriate materials in schools.

If there’s 1 thing I learned about living in the Valley, it’s that you don’t mess with the Armenians
