100 Absentee Ballots Missing In Michigan As Postal Service Investigates

Grand Rapids, Michigan, is facing questions after 100 absentee ballots disappeared in the mail, prompting an investigation by city officials and the United States Postal Service (USPS). The ballots, which were mailed out on September 26, never reached their intended recipients in the northwest part of the city.

Grand Rapids City Clerk Joel Hondorp said it is unusual for such a large number of ballots to go missing at once. While some absentee ballots can occasionally be delayed or lost, Hondorp reassured voters that replacements are on the way and the missing ballots have been voided.

To help voters track their absentee ballots, Hondorp recommended using Michigan’s voting website. This system allows voters to check whether their ballot was sent and when it is received by election officials. Hondorp emphasized that tracking ballots online is an important step to ensure every vote is counted.

The USPS is working with city officials to locate the missing ballots, which has raised concerns about the reliability of absentee voting. Hondorp stated that a total of 32,000 absentee ballots have been mailed out, with the missing 100 representing a small portion of the total.

As the investigation continues, voters in Grand Rapids are encouraged to stay vigilant and report any further delays or issues with their absentee ballots. Officials have reassured the public that every effort is being made to correct the situation.
